        Traffic Location

          Neijiang is situated in the southeast of Sichuan Basin and the middle of the lower reaches of Tuojiang River. It is known as the hub of central Sichuan and the fortress of southern Sichuan. Neijiang is famous for sucrose and it has a long history of art, culture and sports. It is the hometown of Zhang Daqian, master of Chinese painting. Neijiang is located at 29.11-30.2 degrees north latitude and 104.16-105.26 degrees east longitude, which covers an area of 5,385.46k㎡. The total population registered amounted to 4,200,600 at the end of the year, with year-on-year decrease of 3,700 people. The birth rate being 12.57% and the death rate being 9.85%,therefore, the natural growth rate of population was 2.72%. The number of permanent resident population increased by 6,900 at the year end, totaling 3,746,600 population, among which 1,749,700 urban population was included. Urbanization rate rose by 1.1% to 46.7%.
          Neijiang is a neighbor of Chongqing on the east and shares the boundary with Luzhou on the south. The west is Zigong, the northwest Meishan and the north Ziyang and Suining. Over 2000 years ago, Neijiang was a county called Han’an and Zhongjiang in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Now, Neijiang consists of 2 districts, 3 counties and Neijiang economic development zone. According to Ministry of Transport, Neijiang is a main hub of national road transport, the second largest transportation hub in Sichuan and the intersection point of important traffic in southwest China. Neijiang, known as fortress of Sichuan, also belongs to “half an hour economic circle” in Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone. As one of the major producing areas of grain and cash crops in Sichuan, Neijiang has a long history of planting sugarcane and refining sugar, which gives it a title “Sweet City”. Neijiang is not only an old industrial base, but also a supporting base for non-staple food and pillar industry in Chengdu and Chongqing. In addition, Neijiang produces commodity grain and pilots aquaculture industrialization.
          Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and Expressway pass through Neijiang where 5 railways, 7 expressways and 1 operating high-speed train are ramified. Besides, two expressway and high-speed train are under construction. In the periphery, there are three 1000-ton cargo terminals and four airports. These combined together constitute a three-dimensional traffic network that connects the whole country.
